I heard a great speaker (Bob Dignen of York Associates in the UK) at ETAS in Biel last weekend, who challenged the audience to go further than teaching Business English, and start thinking about communication and cultural diversity in international team environments. York Associates did just this, and transformed their English teaching practice into a successful global consulting practice. Of course, many traditional teachers walked out on his talk ... didn't get it at all, or not interested. Kim and I hung on every word and are now planning our paradigm shift. By August 2010, I will be well read in matters of team development, communications theory and intercultural awareness. In September, I plan to get my accreditation at York Associates DPI workshops in Frankfurt. By the end of the year, we will complete our business plan. Boy, do we have A LOT of talking to do on SKYPE Paul! Feel free to make suggestions for my reading list! I've co-authored 2. Now I'm writing my own. By Dec 31, 2010 it will be done...and likely much earlier. This is a cool idea Paul! I have veared away from annual goals and instead have focused on 1 BIG gem each month. Sometimes it's a start doing (rock climbing last Fall) or stop doing (email in the morning) or shift (trusting I have enough time). 1 BIG gem each month. Works for me!
